OMFG: What is that thing?

So, many of you out there have seen the NERDGASMIC trailer for the upcoming THOR film that got leaked earlier today.

Just like Pogo Rumplescoth, many of you have sought my Somewhat Extensive Comic Lore and asked me “what is that thing” at the end of the trailer?  Is it Ultron, mighty foe of the Avengers? Is it one of the Iron Man armors? (mirroring that S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in the trailer!) Is that Klaatu? Will THOR fight a Giant Robot Spider in the third act?

My answer has always been the same: “Nah… that, my dear friend… is… THE DESTROYER!”

Cue in the blank stares.

In lieu of such predicaments, i did a little more research and i shall tell you about The Destroyer.  Let it be known, then, that The Odinson -THOR- has fought many a brave and incredible adversary.  The Destroyer is one of them.  Created way back in 1965, by the greatest dynamic duo since -Stan Lee and Jack Kirby- The Destroyer has plagued Asgard in one form or another.

A somewhat lifeless suit of armor, forged by Odin himself, The Destroyer can be animated by several means, and it just goes on a rampaging rampage of destruction.

He is nigh invulnerable, super strong and can shoot an assortment of beams from it’s visor -like it does at the end of the Trailer: he can shoot energy/heat/concussive force, emit a disintegration beam activated via the same visor, manipulate electro-magnetism and molecules allowing him to turn solid stone to lava and, on top of all this, he can achieve flight.

I really can’t wait to see THOR duke it out with the Destroyer.  It seems the movie will open May 6th here in PTY.
